Saint Matthias the Apostle

Catholic Church

Parish Library: We plan to open a library in the Hughes Center for the use of parishioners. This library will contain books on religion and the church as well as history, biographies, science, even some novels. We need bookcases. If you have bookcases (preferably 6 feet tall x 3 feet wide) you would care to donate, we would be very grateful. Cash donations to buy bookcases would also be welcome. If you can help, please contact Toni Webster

Usher’s Closet: On Friday, July 17th the usher’s closet area will be cleaned out, so if you are missing anything and have not looked in the closet for it, please speak to an usher for assistance before the 17th. As of that date anything remaining will be donated or discarded. Thank you.

tomorrow evening or Sat morn I will disappear from the scene for a few days away from the parish to celebrate with some 45/120 cousins gathering in Ocean City.

On Tuesday Fr Francis will arrive from Nigeria.  I am confident some from the African community will invite him to dinner until I return on the 9th.

Be certain to tell him how fortunate he is to be living with me at Ignatius House!!!!!!  Most likely I will be the blessed to be living with him.

Have a great holiday!

Fr Milt

Faith Formation Registration: Ms. Catherine Tolnay, Director of Faith Formation asks that if your child/children do not go to a Catholic School, you register them for our Faith Formation classes (grades K-8) which will begin in September. You will find registration forms in the pamphlet racks in the vestibule of the Church. Please fill out one form for each of your children who will attend classes, include the registration fee in a sealed envelope with Ms. Tolnay’s name on the envelope and bring it to the Parish Offices. If the Offices are closed, put it in the mail slot at the bottom of the door. Please understand that children need to be in Faith Formation Classes two years in a row to receive a sacrament. Register and pay by July 20th as the registration will increase on July 21st due to the rising costs of materials . We look forward in aiding you in passing on the  full deposit of the faith to your children.

After some years of service to our parish, Mrs. Mary Young decided it was better to separate herself from her employment at the parish.

We are blessed to have volunteers who are helping us to fill in accomplishing the weekly work Mary did for the parish.  Mass Cards are being cared for.  The bulletin was prepared, sent to the publisher and will be in the church this weekend.  Messages are being cared for by volunteers.  We could use a few volunteers for several works if you are free.

May God be with you, Mary, in the days ahead.  Enjoy your new freedom.

Father Jordan

Just learned today that one of Randy Palmer’s brother died recently.  Randy flew to England to be with other family members for funeral services where Randy’s brother lived.

Eternal rest grant unto him, Lord.  let perpetual light shine upon him.  Amen.

Randy, our prayers go to God for your brother and his family.
