Students in grades Pre-K to 3 have been working to “Make a Difference” in the community. These students have undertaken two service projects to help less fortunate people in and around the Washington, D.C. area. Every Wednesday, the students bring in their spare change for St. Ann’s Infant Home in Washington, D.C. St. Ann’s is an orphanage that reaches out to children in the area and helps them find loving families. St. Ann’s is often in need of basic care items such as diapers, lotions, soaps, etc., the money collected will be counted each month and will be used to purchase items for the children. Students have raised $151.00 so far, and hope to reach $300.00 by the end of October.
The primary grade students have also contributed to a local homeless shelter. On October 12th, students brought in 222 sandwiches to be donated to SOME (So Others Might Eat). This service project will continue once a month throughout the school year. Our goal is to make over 1,700 sandwiches by June.

As part of their Advent preparation for the coming of Christ, the 8th grade is reading the suggested Bible passages and meditatons in THE MAGNIFICAT ADVENT COMPANION as well a praying the prayers at the end of each meditation.
The fifth grade students are learning about animals and classifying them into groups. We have discussed invertebrates and practiced "dissecting" gummy worms. They learned a lot about these wonderful creatures and the best part was when they ate the worms.
