Parental involvement makes St. Matthias Apostle School unique. The school recognizes that parents are the first and most important teachers of the children. The Home and School Association and the School Advisory Board are examples

of how the faculty, principal and parents come together to provide service and vision for the children and the school community.

New Parents Meeting / HSA General Meetings 2006-2007 School Year

Home/School General Meeting & Back to School Night
Date: Thursday, September 21st, 2006 7:00 PM
Location: Friendship Hall
Note: General Meeting. No Homework is given to the students this night so that parents may attend. One service hour, to count toward your HSA service requirement, is given to each attending family.
 

Volunteers are needed throughout the year to staff HSA activities in support of our kids!

New Parent Meeting-Thursday, September 14th, 7pm

New parents have the opportunity to meet Home and School Executive Board members,CYO representatives and Boy & Girl Scout den leaders. The opportunity to register/volunteer for school sponsored activities is provided to parents at this meeting
 

2006/2007 HSA Highlights

FLEA MARKET AND FALL FESTIVAL

Join in the FUN at this combined Flea Market (8am-1pm) and Family Fall Fest (10am-2pm) to be held on the St. Matthias Apostle Parish grounds, 9475 Annapolis Road, Lanham, MD on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st, 2005! Purchase bargains galore from the numerous vendors who will be selling their treasures, AND from 10am-2pm join in the fun for the whole family with a Pig Roast and a whole host of children's activities to include a moon bounce, dunk tank, carnival games, face painting, craft projects, and MORE! Come on out and celebrate the start of the fall season! For more information on how to rent a table at the flea market or to volunteer for this event please contact 301-459-0773.
 

BOOK FAIR November 15th & 16th, 2006
The children will be attending the school book fair on Wednesday, Novembver 16th. Volunteers are needed to help on Wednesday during school hours - come earn HSA hours! The Book fair will also be open to parents during Report Card Conferences on Friday, November 18th. Please come visit. Books are always wonderful gifts and it's never to early to shop for Christmas. We will also be sponsoring Classroom Wish Lists to help the teachers build their classroom libraries.
 

THE HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Volunteers are always welcome! Many volunteers are needed to staff this program. The hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and count toward your HSA hours. Please note that in accordance with school policy all volunteers who work with the children must have completed the security screening and training.

Reminders

Don’t forget to turn in your Giant and Safeway numbers to the office so we receive the credit. Also, keep your box tops and turn them in monthly!
 

Remember to keep your copy of the Mandatory HSA Hours forms once you have completed volunteer hours. These forms are for your records to show proof of HSA/School completion of the required 24 hours.
