St. Matthias Apostle School
St. Matthias Apostle School, founded in 1961, welcomes students in preschool (age 4) through Grade 8 of all religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. We are a coeducational Catholic school operating under the direction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, DC and serve as parish school to St. Matthias Apostle Catholic Church in Lanham, Maryland and Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchellville, Maryland
The school provides an integrated education program of religion and strong academics leading to the development of the whole child. The school continually evaluates and upgrades its program in order to reaffirm its direction and goals. It seeks to strengthen its role in teaching the values of the Catholic Church.
Our school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a recipient of the U.S. Department of Education's Certificate of Merit.
COMMUNITY
St. Matthias Apostle School is dedicated to providing a school community in which students, teachers, clergy and parishioners come together to nurture and empower its students to learn to live and grow into responsible, caring, well educated Christians. The school welcomes students preschool (age 4) through eighth grade of all religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
RELIGION
Religion is a part of daily life at St. Matthias. Regular Mass attendance and class participation in the preparation of a school Mass liturgy is a treasured part of the religious education program. The community strives to provide an environment in which students can be caring, respectful and responsible young adults.
