Dear Friends and Fellow Parishioners,
What a blessing you are to me and our parish! Thank you very much for your gifts to me on the occasion of my Pastoral Installation. How blessed we were to have Cardinal Wuerl present for our celebration. “Deeply moving and uplifting…”, he said.
It was the Holy Spirit who brought me to St. Matthias at a time when I needed some light work to let my heart heal following surgery. Low and behold after four years…well, you know the rest of the story!
So together, you and I, we are going to continue the path to success in bringing the message of the Church and Jesus Christ to so many.

This weekend, Pope Francis is celebrating families through his participation in the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. As he has said before: “How precious is the family as the privileged place for transmitting the faith!” The Pope’s visit is a great opportunity for our families to transmit, affirm, and witness to our faith in Jesus Christ. Have you considered taking the Walk with Francis pledge with your family? Take the pledge with your parents, your siblings, your spouse, or your children, and then live out the pledge together as a group. Strengthen your family bonds and share your faith as you transform your community! Take the pledge as an individual or family at WalkwithFrancis.org, and challenge friends and relatives to do the same.
